  • Mexico City 2010 Trip

I don’t think I can do a complete post on everything I’ve done up until today. So instead, I’ll focus on the trip to Mexico, since it’s fresh in my head. Expect lots of pictures and not too much text.

Comic-Con was Jul 21 – July 25. That was the launch of my Syte Shirts, which sold well at Comic-Con, and landed me on Gizmodo and Engadget. Pretty awesome.

Siggraph was July 26 – July 29. Show went really well for us. Placement is key at a trade show, and we had a prime spot. We even ran out of brochures!

Our flight to Mexico City was July 30th in the wee-AM. As you can tell, the time leading up to Mexico City was already extremely hectic. On arrival, we caught a taxi to Michael and Mari’s place. Michael prepared me well with a document that I could hand off to anyone, giving them directions to the Polo residence. Those papers saved us more than once in Mexico City. Thanks Michael! On arriving, Michael took Hyun and I out to dinner to begin our culinary adventure. Mari met up with us later that night and we went back to their place and retired early after a long day of traveling.

The next morning we got up early and went to stay at Alejandro’s family residence in Tepoztlan. Behold the view.

The view around the house was amazing.

I got to play in a corn field!

    Mexico City (6)

Hyun’s enjoying feeding time almost as much as Diego.

    Obsidean Art (3)

Obsidean art along seen during our sightseeing.

    Teotihuacan (23)

Teotihuacan was the first set of pyramids I have ever seen. Can’t wait to see more.

    Basilica de Guadalupe (24)

Our Lady of Guadalupe in Basilica of Guadalupe.

    Zocalo (5)

Zocalo was enormous and jammed with tourists.

    Castillo de Chapultepec (4)

Part of the view from Castillo de Chapultepec. You could see the entire city from up there.

    Museo Nacional de Antropología

Torta Cubana outside the Museo Nacional de Antropología. 3 meats, 3 cheeses. 3,000 calories?

    Museo Nacional de Antropología (19)

The Museo Nacional de Antropología was a remarkable museum. Everyone should visit it when they go to Mexico City.

    San Miguel de Allende (11)

Cathedral at the center of San Miguel de Allende (I think the image is broken…)

    San Miguel de Allende (23)

One of our best meals in Mexico City was at an indoor camarones cart. The cart used to be outside. They rented some building space and moved the cart inside. Very hard to find, but most the locals know where it is.

A painting from the art and design district.

    San Miguel de Allende (45)

Our victorious lunch at Pollo Feliz. It tooks us 2 tries to eat here.

    San Miguel de Allende (46)

Our hosts at the bed & breakfast. Definitely not a bed & begone!

    Mexico City (12)

Getting the influenza at the Black Dog. Michael introduced me to the owner (far right), who was a wonderful host.

    Mexico City (16)

Everyone’s happy (and a little tipsy).

    Mexico City (27)

A great photo finish to a unforgettable adventure.
