  • Start-Up or Steadfast?

I’m in a point in my life where I have to start thinking about my next career step. Do I want to join a start-up or work at a large established company. In my opinion, there’s no one answer. Both have their benefits and both have their drawback. The right answer is which type of company is best for the person. I’m not going into a comparison between the two. If you want, e-mail or comment below.

I’m just at the point where it’s hard to decide. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

  • Depends on how confident you are in the success of the start-up and what kind of hours you want to put in. I find smaller companies are exciting, but the work environment depends so much more on the personalities of the top dogs than at a larger company — so make sure you like their style/what they’re doing, and be prepared to put in long hours. Larger companies have a little more bureaucracy and a preset org style but can have fewer opportunities for growth/more limited responsibilities (depending on the job, of course).

  • @Ennekube - Thanks for the advice. It’s always nice to get an outside opinion. Lots to think about this week!
